Is religion a remnant of archaic way of thinking about the world or could its discourse still have a viable resonance in modern world? Does religion have an atemporal essence and function? Is religion intrinsically violent, anti-rational, and anti-scientific? What has been the role of religion in evolution/devolution of human culture? Whether we have religious conviction or not, it seems to be impossible to have a thorough understanding of human society, culture and history without a thorough understanding of the human's religious propensity.This session focuses on the essence and the role of religion in modern societies. رضا بنی صدر در سال ۱۳۳۲ در تهران متولد شد.تحصیلات ابتدایی را در دبستان قائم‌مقام و تحصیلات متوسطه را در دبیرستان هدف به پایان رسانید. در سال ۱۳۵۰ برای ادامه تحصیلات به فرانسه رفت و در دانشکده هنر های زیبای پاریس در رشته معماری ثبت نام کرد.در پاریس همراه با تحصیل به صورت فعال با تشکل های دانشجوئی ایرانی همکاری داشت.در سال ۱۳۵۷وروزهای شروع انقلاب و ورود آقای خمینی به پاریس و نوفل لوشاتو حضور فعال داشته و پس ازانقلاب و پس ازخاتمه تحصیل به ایران رفته و در روزنامه انقلاب اسلامی مشغول به کار می شود و درسال ۱۳۶۱ دستگیر شده ولی پس از یکسال آزاد می شود واز آن پس به فعالیت درزمینه های مهندسی میپردازد . رضا بنی... more >>

We are a group of mostly Persian young students, scholars and professionals who gather every Thursday evening around 19h00 in a café to discuss various subjects and share different ideas, ranging vastly from history to science, from literature to fine arts. We started these gatherings on Jan 18th, 2007. Each week, one of us takes the responsibility of presenting a topic (in Persian, English or French) for about an hour in a subject s/he is intimately familiar with or has an expertise in. Afterwards, the evening turns into a discussion forum and all members of the audience will have an opportunity to ask their question(s) and share their points of view.
