I have been a student of sciences for as long as I can remember. I loved my science classes at Farhad Primary School and later at Andisheh High School in Tehran. I drew pleasure from biology and organic chemistry and event attempted to build a laser device with my primary school friends at the age of 11! However, I started my formal training as a scientist at the University of British Columbia where I received my Honours degree in Physiology. After moving to Montreal and completing my doctoral work in Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience at McGill and on the Island of St Kitts (working with vervet monkeys), I underwent a period of post-doctoral training at the Montreal Neurological Institute where I studied various aspects of sensory processing in the human mind and brain. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience at McGill University where I continue to explore the evolutionary history of our perceptual and cognitive abilities.

About us
CaféLitt is not a place; it is a gathering of minds. We are a group of mostly Persian young students, scholars and professionals who gather every Thursday evening around 19h00 in a café to discuss various subjects and share different ideas, ranging vastly from history to science, from literature to fine arts. We started these gatherings on Jan 18th, 2007. Each week, one of us takes the responsibility of presenting a topic (in Persian, English or French) for about an hour in a subject s/he is intimately familiar with or has an expertise in. Afterwards, the evening turns into a discussion forum and all members of the audience will have an opportunity to ask their question(s) and share their points of view.
